Kalman data server for the IRI/LDEO Climate Data Library + local Kalman files

The IRI/LDEO Climate Data Library contains a wide variety of earth science data, primarily oceanographic and atmospheric datasets. The Introduction to Climate Data picks out a few of the most generally interesting datasets, and the Data Library Overview shows some of the many ways the data can be accessed and manipulated. There are some step-by-step examples, as well as as many answered questions.

The Library is quite powerful. For example, the Data Viewer will let you explore the dataset of your choice (for a demonstration, look at World Topography or Ocean Climatologies).

Maproom

The maproom is a collection of maps and other figures that monitor climate conditions at present and in the recent past. The maps and figures can be manipulated and are linked to the original data. Even if you are primarily interested in data rather than figures, this is a good place to see which datasets are particularly useful for monitoring current conditions.

Finding Data

There are several ways of looking for the dataset that you want.

Datasets by Category - provides a categorical listing of the datasets in the Data Library. A summary of each dataset is offered, including its spatial and temporal resolution, spatial and temporal limits, and a brief description. Those interested in learning more about the types of data that are typically used in climate research are encouraged to look at the Introduction to Climate Data, which describes a few of the more interesting datasets, and the Climate Information Digest , which uses the Data Library to monitor world climate.
Datasets by Source - is a complete list of datasets by local dataset name.
Dataset Searches - lets you do keyword searches through different sets of pages which describe the datasets.
Other Data - lets you read your own netCDF/HDF/CDF file.
